What Future?

What did the bylaws of Thomas Coram's Foundling Hospital
make possible for the children's futures?

Have a quick look at what follows, by all means. But if you have never visited the parent page, with "scene setting", I hope you will visit it one day. It tries to explain what an amazing achievement Thomas Coram's Foundling Hospital was.

If you have seen the above, and just want the "home page" of the images pages, and it's links to the different images pages, then there's the link you need.

What do you think? I think the following passages from the bylaws show several things pointing to the level headedness, good sense, of the people who set the hospital up.

Sadly, I don't think the "colonies" ever became established. The reason for trying to establish them seem sound.

Note the careful balance between the welfare of the children, and good "business sense": It was no good thinking that the children were going to step onto society's ladder very far up from the bottom. The hospital founders seem to have looked carefully at "what is the best we can do for our kids?"
