The Case Of the Perplexing Palm Frond

High resolution images

I imagine you came here from my "Perplexing Palm Frond" page. If not, that might be the place to start.

-

Any help you can give me about what this might be very welcome! Age? Language? What the writing says (more images further down the page... even "bits" translated would be very welcome!) The following gives you how to get in touch by email.

The rest of this page consists of very long (vertically), very narrow (horizontally) images... the best I can do in this medium. If you have expertise, and would be willing to examine it directly, I would be happy to bring it to London someday?

In the first pair: On the left, a low(ish) resolution image of the whole thing, but "marked up" with some reference tags, so you don't have to try to say "The bit near the middle, to the left of the...", if you have something to tell me about a particular block of text.

In the first pair: On the right, regions "A", "B" and "C", and then an image of where some kind of stamp was impressed into frond at its right hand end. (Region "F".)

Following the first pair, there is one more image... it shows regions D and E.

Thank you! If only for reading this far!

I hope reading it on the screen doesn't give you a crick in your neck! The images can, of course, be downloaded (right click, "Save Image As", and then you can put them in the image software of your choice... I like little IrfanViewer for such things... and rotated. And then you can zoom, etc, as well!

If you are feeling VERY kind! (If so.. thank you! I hope the "document" will repay your trouble by being interesting! (I should perhaps mention: My interest in this is sincere, but not so intense that you should infer that I would be willing to pay you for your translating. I might be willing to pay someone... or make a suitable gift to the US or UK charity of his or her choice... but negotiate with me, please, before embarking on translation-for-gain.)
